Good evening everyone, I trust you're all well. I apologise to all my adoring fans for a slightly later than usual blog entry, I've been a bit tied up as of late.
Whoever had the swell idea of scheduling my last exam on the last day of exams deserves a big, big, pat on the back. And the subject matter for the exam, well its none other than "Hot topics in economics". To sum up, 8 questions are made available to me and I need to answer 2 in 90 minutes, each carrying 50 marks/percent. I have decided to prepare in advance by covering material on student financing and the European single currency. How do I think I'll do? Reasonably well I guess, I'm pretty clued up on all the in's and out's regarding the topic areas at hand though I wish it was a 2 hour exam. Oh well, after tomorrow I can forget about exams for a few months until the next set arrive; to quote my fave anime character at the moment, "gao".
Yesterday, I was finally able to get up to date with Naruto. My sources tell me that the anime is right on the heels of the manga now so we should begin to see the anime branch off within the next few months. I don't expect the series to go on for any longer than 250 - 300 episodes and from here on in, it'll be a painful week by week process until the much fabled day. In the mean time, I've been browsing Hobby Link Japan and their selection of Naruto Cospa t-shirts is rather nice. The Kakashi and Naruto ones look very swank, shame they've stopped taking orders for the more popular sizes. Oh, I also discovered I share my birthday with the initial air-date of Naruto way back in 2002. My claims to fame are now sharing my birthday with Naruto, Optimus Prime, and the day Edward and Alphonse Elric burnt their house down. BANZAI!!!
Like every Thursday for the last 2 years, it was AnimeSoc last night. Gundam F91 was shown by us which I have to say I was rather poor. The average Gundam series takes around 50 episodes to tell a good story, now try compressing that into a 2 hour movie. Doesn't work does it? There was hardly any character development, and the plot moved along at a lightning fast pace leaving little breathing room. The end theme was nice though, and at least it'll stop the Gundam consortium from requesting any more. How many times do I have to tell them that we can't show something that's 50 episodes long in less than 12 or so weeks? I love my role, really I do... *sigh*
I thought I'd also dedicate this part of the blog to my good friend, Ari. I've known him for at least the last 5 years but I've unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet him in person and buy him a beer. I was asked fairly recently who I both admired AND respected and after thinking long and hard, I could only name 4 people. My parents obviously for starters; my 6th form home-room tutor, Dr Wallach; and my friend, Ari. I know a lot of smart people but he is one of the few who are truly wise, always having a rational answer to provide, and rarely on the side of bias. You're a top guy and here's to many more years of friendship!
In the words of Biff from Back to the Future, I'd better "make like a tree and get outta here", 'night folks.
