In the space of 10 minutes last night, no less than 9 people on my MSN Messenger contact list had become infected with that "cute.pif" exploit. If you're in doubt, you really should ask the sender what the file is first or simply don't accept the transfer at all. If you are infected, head over here to download a tool to remove the problem.
Its been a fairly quiet weekend, managed to get a few good sessions at the gym, though sadly, Peter had to pop home quickly on Friday afternoon so I went solo. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are dead in there, I had the place all to myself yesterday for about 30 minutes before I saw another soul. I also bumped into my personal tutor on the treadmill, the place is no longer cool anymore... I think I need to concentrate on my tricep work a bit more since I seem to be struggling with the chin-ups; I could only manage a measly 15 at 25kg.
I finally have Tekken 5 for the PS2 and damn is it pretty. Some of the environmental effects, such as the heat haze or the cold mist, really adds to the atmosphere. And how does it play, well, I'd have to say less like Tekken 4 and more like Tekken 3, so Tekken 3.5 then. The speed has been bumped up a notch from the arcade and it seems easier to chain moves together; I can pull off 10 hit combos with both Asuka and Paul fairly consistently though they're too easy to disrupt, all you need is quick jab and the combo is broken. For those of you who remember Tekken Force from Tekken 3, it makes a return with this installment by the name of Devil Within. You play Jin in a 3D beat 'em up, facing the same 4 characters over, and over again. All for the sake unlocking Devil Jin to play in the main game, argh! And while we're talking about cheap characters, the final boss for Tekken 5, Jinpachi takes the cake. He's Heihachi's father with the Devil gene fully active which means almost all of his moves have high priority (or frame advantage if we wanna get technical), as well as a stun mist and an unblockable fireball. Thankfully you can beat him if you can knock him to the ground and keep stomping on him.
Last night, I finally finished reading all of the Planetes manga and it wasn't quite as I expected. It doesn't happen often but I do rank the anime higher in this situation. While the manga does give insights into Fee and Tanabe's past, as well as what happens on the Jupiter mission, I simply feel the anime did a better job of telling a story. It took all the key events in the manga, re-ordered them for maximum impact on the viewer, and fleshed out each and every one of the characters making you care about each and every one. The slightly ambiguous ending also works better on this occassion than the manga's more clear-cut version.
Naruto's hotting up again after a few episodes of stagnation. Everybody's favourite green whirlwind from Konoha's back, as well as a few other familiar faces from the past. Very exciting stuff, and I guess it kinda proves the Shikamaru rumours I've been hearing as of late to be true...
Just downloaded a series called Saikano which has been pimped to me a number of times. Supposedly, its a really depressing, dramatic, tear-jerker so its right up my street then. I'll give my views once I've watched a few episodes later.
