Greetings folks, this edition of The Mind of Yu is brought to you especially from Birmingham. It's been over 4 weeks since I was last at home and I really did start to miss this place. I normally go home for a few days right after my January exams, but because of the awkward scheduling this time, I wasn't able to do so.
Today, I excitedly ventured to the Wagamama Japanese restaurant that recently opened up at the Bullring. Being a big fan of food (and who isn't?), I'm always up for trying out new cuisine but sadly, I was greatly disappointed by what was on offer. I opted for the seafood ramen whilst my mum decided to go for the Japanese style chicken curry. My ramen arrived very quickly which made me wonder about how fresh their noodles were. From their appearance alone, I could tell they were of the instant variety since they were somewhat stodgey and all the strands were quite broken in length. Fresh ramen, like any type of noodles, should remain firm for a good length of time even in warm water. It should also be a battle to eat them since they shouldn't break up too easily from handling. My mum's curry was also lacklustre at best; all it turned out to be was a few pieces of breadcrumbed chicken which had been deep-friend, smothered with curry sauce with a helping of rice. We couldn't help but feel the place was more a fashion statement than an eating establishment. I highly suggest it be avoided if you ever consider dining there.
The hosting company for www.aberanime.co.uk contacted me a short while ago asking me to upgrade the forum installation to the latest version of php. Some rogue hacker has been trying to compromise their systems through backdoor php vulnerabilities, which answers the question of who the mysterious IP address belonged to. For the last few days, a certain guest user has been repeatedly browsing and searching through the forums, using up my valuable bandwidth. After blocking the IP and now plugging up any security holes, the threat seems to be over or at least for now...
It has also been brought to my attention by a friend of mine that I resemble a certain anime character (or is it the other way 'round?). If I were to permanently wear sunglasses and a hairband, then I may look something like this:
For those wondering, he's Harima Kenji from the hilarious School Rumble.
