Ahoy there folks and welcome to another edition of The Mind of Yu.

Well, tonight was another general meeting for the UWA union.  A motion was trying to be passed which happened to be unconstitutional; now I'm sure you or I would instantly dismiss the motion in similar circumstances but instead, the organisers of the event decided to argue over it for a further 30 minutes. 

Another motion was passed to make the union a restricted smoking area in the evenings which I can agree with; it is during the day and not everybody wishes to inhale my second-hand smoke. 

The one thing which pissed me off the most was the stupid wishy-washy bilingual policy the union adopts.  An entire third of the room was without translation aids and they continued to conduct certain parts of the meeting in Welsh only.  When Craig decided to raise this issue that not everybody was a Welsh speaker, he was rudely questioned by a fellow sat behind us.  I was always taught that it was impolite to speak another language if there were those present who did not understand, being a speaker of Cantonese myself.
