Yes, yes, it's the summer now which means twitch gaming! "What is twitch gaming" I hear you ask? Well, it simply means a game you can pick up and play for short bursts every once in a while; and there's no better twitch game than OutRun 2.
Having recently sampled OutRun 2 SP in London's Trocadero (which will sadly be closing down), it's the closest I have to the game without actually splashing out £15,000 for an actual arcade cab. After the less than stellar sales results on the Xbox, I don't think I'll be holding my breath on this one.
For the last few days, I've been reading the Ichigo 100% manga, courtesy of the charming folks at yanime.com. The anime will be ending in 4 episodes' time which spurred me on to read the manga since there is absolutely loads that has been skipped out; guess that's what you get when you try shoe-horning over 15 volumes of manga into a 12 episode series...
I'd say the story draws a lot of inspiration from Ranma 1/2; the star of the manga, Manaka Junpei, is very much like Ranma in that he has more potential suitors than he could shake a stick at. Only difference is he actually likes each and every girl he's come into contact with, the poor chap simply can't decide which gets him into all kinds of risqué situations.
The art style seems very familiar to me for some reason; at first I thought the character designs were by Gotoh Keiji (Kiddy Grade, Gatekeepers etc), since Aya's design looks especially like his other works. But no, it seems it's by a lady named Kawashita Mizuki.
I had better slow down on the reading front, I've only got four volumes left before I run out...
